Abstract

Abstraction is perhaps the single most drastic development in the history of Western Art It became the dominant subject in painting in the second half of the twentieth century. Our gallery offers original abstract art for sale ranging from the early 20th century, to modern-day contemporary pieces. We display artworks by Modern masters from the American Abstract Expressionist School, also known as Abex - with artists such as Paul Jenkins, Sam Francis, Norman Bluhm or Robert Motherwell amongst others. In France, this movement is also known as Lyrical Abstraction ("abstraction lyrique"). The fine art paintings available to buy on this page feature strong geometric forms, along with explorations into shape, colour, form and texture. The original paintings in this section are Modern Abstract works of art available for immediate purchase.
