Richard Cork has confirmed the authenticity of this work by David Bomberg.

Bomberg is one of the most important Modern British painters. In 1923 he traveled to the Middle East. This trip was a great source of inspiration for the artist who later said that until he travelled to Jerusalem, he had 'never seen the sunlight before'. He painted en plein air throughout the four years he spent in the region.
