Description
The present painting together with 4 other works, was purchased directly from the artist by a British officer serving in Palestine in the 1930's. In 1991 our gallery purchased all 4 works from the son of this British Officer who lived in Essex, England. Our gallery sold this nude painting a few months later to an important London-based, Israeli collector. Many years later, after moving back to Israel, this collector consigned the painting back to us for sale. The father of gallery owner David Stern, owned Stern Gallery in Tel Aviv and was in regular contact with Mrs Castel who was very excited when she saw the images of this early painting. She confirmed this work was painted in Paris influenced by Castel's exposure to the works of Modigliani.
This original painting by Moshe Castel is available for immediate purchase.
